These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Placed inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, so the same head can deposit films of different widths and volumes.
Each pack contains 5 shims with a predefined coating width, offered in 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm thicknesses. Shims can also act as spacers between the sections of the head, altering the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be achieved. They suit inks with viscosities from 0 – 1000 cPs.
Where a standard width is not suitable, custom shim designs are available, including layouts that allow multiple strips to be coated at once. The shims work alongside other slot die accessories such as meniscus guides, which help further define the width of the deposited film.
