These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Fitted inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, giving you control over both film width and deposited volume.
Shims are supplied in packs of 5, each pack with a predefined coating width, in thicknesses of 0.1 mm or 0.05 mm. Beyond defining width, a shim can also act as a spacer between the sections of the head, changing the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be reached. They suit inks across a viscosity range of 0 – 1000 cPs.
Custom shim designs are also possible, including layouts for coating several strips at once. The shims sit alongside other slot die accessories such as slot die heads and meniscus guides, which help further sharpen the edges of the coated film.
