These stainless steel shims are made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. Fitted inside the head, a shim sets the width of the coated stripe, letting you control both the width and the volume of material deposited onto your substrate.
The shims are supplied in packs of 5, each pack carrying a preset coating width. They are offered in 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm thicknesses and suit inks and solutions with viscosities from 0 – 1000 cPs. Custom shim designs are also available for users who need multi strip coatings.
Beyond defining width, a shim can serve as a spacer between the sections of the slot die head. This changes the internal pressure within the head, which allows higher flow rates to be used. The shims work alongside other slot die accessories such as meniscus guides, which further help define the width of the deposited film.
