These Ossila shims are stainless steel inserts made for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. A slot die head needs a shim to set the width of the coated film, and each pack contains 5 shims cut to a predefined coating width.
Shims are offered in 0.1 mm and 0.05 mm thicknesses and suit coating fluids from 0 to 1000 cPs. Besides setting the width, a shim can act as a spacer between the sections of the head, which alters the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be used.
Custom shims are also available for more specific needs, including designs that produce several coated strips at once. The shims work alongside other slot die accessories, such as meniscus guides, which further help control the width of the deposited film.
