These stainless steel shims are designed for the Ossila 50 mm standard slot die head. A shim sits inside the slot die coating head and sets the width of the coated film, so changing the shim is a simple way to change the coating width and volume.
Shims are supplied in packs of 5 with predefined coating widths, in thicknesses of 0.1 mm or 0.05 mm. They are suited to inks and solutions in the 0 – 1000 cPs viscosity range. Besides defining the width, a shim can also serve as a spacer between the sections of the head, altering the internal pressure so that higher flow rates can be used.
Custom shim options are also available for more specific needs, including designs for multi-strip coatings. The shims work alongside other slot die coating accessories such as meniscus guides, which further help define the width of the deposited film.
