5Cz-TRZ (CAS 2043597-42-6) is a sky-blue thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter supplied as an unsublimed white powder or crystals with a purity above 98% by HNMR. Its structure places five electron-donating carbazole groups and one electron-accepting 4,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-triazine group around a central benzene ring.
The material is known for a reverse intersystem crossing rate (kRISC) of 1.5 × 10 7 s −1, close to two orders of magnitude faster than typical TADF emitters. This comes from a small singlet–triplet splitting (ΔE ST of 0.06 eV), large spin–orbit couplings and a dense set of triplet states lying near the singlets. It shows a ΦPL of 99% in 15 wt% mCBP and a τ d of 0.8 μs in DMF.
In OLEDs using mCBP as host, 5Cz-TRZ as blue dopant has reached a maximum external quantum efficiency of 29.3%, with an estimated T 90 of about 600 h at 1,000 cd m -2. Efficiency roll-off is very low: EQE stays at 28.6% at 1000 cd m -2 and 27.0% at 5000 cd m -2.
- Blue or sky-blue dopant in TADF-based OLED emissive layers, for example with an mCBP host.

- Component in fluorescent white OLEDs, including solution-processed devices, as reported in the literature.
