ACRSA, or 10-Phenyl-10H,10′H-spiro[acridine-9,9′-anthracen]-10′-one (CAS 1206626-95-0), is a blue-greenish emitter for OLED and organic electronics research. It belongs to a small group of spiro compounds that show efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). It is supplied as sublimed material with >99.0% purity (HPLC), appearing as off-white crystals or powder.
The molecule pairs an electron-donating acridine unit with an electron-accepting anthracenone unit. A spiro-junction joins the two so that their π systems sit orthogonal to each other, giving a weakly coupled bichromophoric structure. This design yields a small singlet-triplet gap (ΔE ST) of 0.03 eV, with absorption at λ max 430 nm and emission at λ em 490 nm.
In reported devices with a DPEPO host, ACRSA reached a maximum EQE of 16.4% in bluish-green OLEDs. As a sensitizer for TBPe in blue devices it gave a maximum EQE of 13.4% and a current efficiency of 27 cd/A. Ossila ACRSA was used in the study by K. Stavrou et al., Nat. Photon., 18, 554–561 (2024), on hyperfluorescence OLEDs.
