ANT-BIZ (CAS 1254961-38-0) is an electron-deficient semiconducting small molecule used as an electron transport layer (ETL) material in OLED and OPV research. Its full chemical name is 1-[4-(10-([1,1-biphenyl]-4-yl)anthracen-9-yl)phenyl]-2-ethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole, and it is supplied as a sublimed grade with purity above 99.0% (HPLC), appearing as a white powder or crystals.
The molecule has a bipolar design: an electron-donating anthracene core carries a 1,1-biphenyl group and an electron-accepting 1-phenyl-2-ethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole group at the 9 and 10 positions. Its HOMO lies at 5.51 eV and its LUMO at 2.52 eV, and it is also classed as a hole blocking layer (HBL) material.
ANT-BIZ is widely chosen for blue, green and red OLEDs that need high luminance and low turn-on voltages. Paired with Liq as the electron injection layer, it has supported a BNSe-sensitised hyperfluorescence device reaching a record external quantum efficiency of 40.5%, power efficiency beyond 200 lm/W and luminance close to 200,000 cd m -2.
- Electron transport layer in vacuum-deposited OLED device stacks.
- Hole blocking layer in multilayer organic electronic devices.
- Fabrication of high-efficiency green phosphorescent and TADF OLEDs.
- Development of blue fluorescent OLEDs with high luminance and low turn-on voltage.
- Electron transport layer research for red OLEDs and organic photovoltaics (OPVs).
