AQ(PhDPA)2, or 2,6-bis[4-(diphenylamino)phenyl]-9,10-anthracenedione (CAS 1640978-33-1), is a red dopant material for thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) OLEDs, energy storage research and optical waveguides. It is supplied as a sublimed grade with >99.0% purity (HPLC) and as an unsublimed 98% grade.
The molecule is a D-π-A-π-D chromophore: two electron-donating triphenylamine groups are linked at the 2 and 6 positions of an electron-accepting anthraquinone core. This donor-acceptor design makes it an efficient red TADF emitter.
Beyond OLEDs, AQ(PhDPA)2 serves as a monomer for the polymer PBDAPA, which forms an urchin-like morphology with a specific surface area of ∼129.6 m2 g-1 and shows double charge-discharge behaviour with a specific capacity of 132.7 mAh g-1. When doped into PMMA as the upper cladding of a passive SU-8 waveguide and pumped from above by a 450 nm LED, it delivered a gain of 2.6 dB cm-1.
- Red emitter in the emissive layer of TADF-OLED devices.
- Monomer for preparing the polymer PBDAPA studied as a lithium-ion battery cathode material.
- Dopant in PMMA cladding for polymer waveguide optical amplifiers pumped by LEDs.
- Research into intramolecular charge-transfer and delayed fluorescence photophysics.
