AQ(PhDPA)2, or 2,6-bis[4-(diphenylamino)phenyl]-9,10-anthracenedione (CAS 1640978-33-1), is a red dopant material known as an efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter. It is supplied as a red powder or crystals in sublimed grade (>99.0% by HPLC) or unsublimed grade (98%).
Its molecule follows a D-π-A-π-D chromophore design: an electron-deficient anthraquinone core carries two electron-rich triphenylamine groups at the 2 and 6 positions. Reported energy levels are HOMO 5.90 eV and LUMO 3.60 eV, with absorption peaking at 614 nm in toluene.
Beyond OLEDs, the compound serves as a monomer for the polymer PBDAPA, which forms an urchin-like morphology with a specific surface area of ∼129.6 m2 g-1 and a specific capacity of 132.7 mAh g-1 with double charge-discharge behaviour. When doped into PMMA as the upper cladding of a passive SU-8 waveguide and pumped from above with a 450 nm LED, it delivered a gain of 2.6 dB cm-1.
- Red emitter or dopant in TADF-OLED emissive layers.
- Monomer for preparing the poly(triphenylamine) derivative PBDAPA used as a lithium-ion battery cathode material.
- Gain dopant in PMMA cladding for LED-pumped polymer waveguide amplifiers.
- Research into intramolecular charge-transfer and delayed fluorescence photophysics.
