The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator is a motorised coating platform that moves your applicator across the substrate at a set, repeatable speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters and gap applicators as well as Sheen, Baker and Bird applicators, so several coating methods can be explored on a single instrument.
Stage speed can be programmed from 0.05 mm.s -1 up to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, letting you match the motion to the applicator and the viscosity of your solution and avoid coating defects. The system handles coating widths up to 225 mm over a 290 mm (A4) travel length, making it suited to scaling up from small samples to larger areas.
Two stage options are offered: an 8 mm toughened glass stage with a printed grid for quick sample alignment and easy cleaning, or an anodized aluminium vacuum stage that holds substrates firmly, ideal for flexible films and foils. A quick-lock magnetic design allows the stage and drip tray to be removed, swapped and cleaned between runs.
