The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator is a motorised coating platform that moves your chosen applicator across a substrate at a programmed, steady speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters and gap applicators, as well as Sheen, Baker and Bird applicators, so a single system can serve bar coating, doctor blade coating and related thin-film techniques on samples up to A4 size.
Stage speed can be set from 0.05 mm.s -1 to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, letting you match the movement to the applicator and the viscosity of your solution and avoid coating defects. Coating widths reach 225 mm over a 290 mm travel length, and Mayer bars with a 255 mm coating width can be accommodated.
Two stage options are offered: an 8 mm toughened glass stage with a printed grid for fast sample alignment and easy cleaning, or an anodized aluminum vacuum stage that holds flexible and foil substrates firmly in place. A quick-lock magnetic design lets the stage and drip tray be removed, swapped and cleaned between coatings.
