The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator is a motorised coating system that moves your chosen applicator across the substrate at a controlled, programmable speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters and gap applicators, as well as Sheen, Baker and Bird applicators, so several coating techniques can be run on one platform.
Stage speed can be set anywhere from 0.05 mm.s -1 to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, letting you match the motion to the applicator and the viscosity of the solution and avoid coating defects. The system handles coating widths up to 225 mm over a 290 mm (A4) travel length, making it suitable for scaling up from small samples to larger substrates.
Two stage options are offered: an 8 mm toughened glass stage with a printed alignment grid that is easy to clean, or an anodized aluminum vacuum stage that holds flexible or foil substrates firmly in place. A quick-lock magnetic design allows the stage and drip tray to be removed, swapped and cleaned quickly between coatings.
