The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator is a motorised coating platform that moves your chosen applicator across the substrate at a controlled, repeatable speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters and gap applicators, as well as Sheen, Baker and Bird applicators, so several coating methods can be run on one instrument.
Stage speed can be set anywhere from 0.05 mm.s -1 to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, letting you match the motion to the applicator and the viscosity of the solution and avoid coating defects. The system handles coating widths up to 225 mm over a 290 mm (A4) travel length, which suits larger-area samples.
Two stage options are offered: an 8 mm toughened glass stage with a printed grid for quick sample alignment and easy cleaning, or an anodized aluminum vacuum stage that holds flexible or foil substrates firmly when connected to a vacuum pump. A magnetic quick-lock lets the stage and drip tray be removed, cleaned and refitted quickly between coatings.
