The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator (L2009C1-UK) is a motorised coating platform that moves your applicator across the substrate at a programmed, steady speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters, gap applicators and Sheen, Baker or Bird applicators, so a single unit covers bar coating, doctor blade coating and related film-casting methods.
Speed is adjustable from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, letting you match the motion to the applicator and the viscosity of the solution and avoid defects. The stage travels 290 mm (A4) and coats widths up to 225 mm, making it suitable for scaling up from small samples to larger substrates.
Two stage options are offered: an 8 mm toughened glass stage with a printed alignment grid that is easy to clean, or an anodized aluminum vacuum stage with a grid of vacuum holes for holding flexible or foil substrates flat. Both the stage and the drip tray attach with a quick-lock magnet, so they can be removed, cleaned and swapped quickly between coatings.
