B2PymPm, or 4,6-Bis(3,5-di(pyridin-2-yl)phenyl)-2-methylpyrimidine (CAS 1266181-51-4), is an organic semiconductor supplied in sublimed grade with a purity above 99.0% (HPLC). It serves as an electron-transport layer (ETL) or hole-blocking layer (HBL) material in OLEDs and photovoltaic devices.
Its structure is built on a 2-methylpyrimidine centre carrying four pyridine side groups. These pyridine rings form hydrogen bonds both within each molecule and between neighbouring molecules, which helps the molecules adopt a flat shape and favours horizontal molecular orientation in films. This ordering is associated with high charge mobility.
The material has a HOMO of 6.62 eV, a LUMO of 3.55 eV and a triplet energy (E T1) of 3.04 eV. It appears as white crystals or powder, melts at 257 °C and has a glass transition temperature of 107 °C. Sublimation is used to reach an ultra pure grade suitable for device fabrication.
