Ossila M2396A1 is a conductive carbon black nanopowder (CAS 1333-86-4) with an average particle size of around 30 nm and a purity above 99.9%. It is a fine black powder of amorphous or para-crystalline carbon, supplied for energy storage research, conductive composites and electrochemical work.
Carbon black aggregates are roughly spherical, typically 10 to 100 nm across, with an amorphous core wrapped in stacked graphene-like polyaromatic domains. This structure gives a high ratio of surface area to volume, and the material's conductivity depends on its particle size, structure and porosity.
As a filler, carbon black bonds well with most polymers without extensive surface treatment. Even small additions to a polymer matrix raise mechanical strength and build a conductive network that sharply increases electrical conductivity, while also adjusting optical properties and wear resistance. This grade has an iodine absorption of ≤ 140 m2/g, DBP oil absorption of ~ 86 cc/100g and a pH of about 5.
- Conductive additive in electrodes for batteries and supercapacitors.
- Component in dye-sensitized solar cells.
- Filler for elastomers and plastics to tune mechanical, electrical and optical properties.
- Material for low-cost electrochemical sensors.
- Black pigment with high tint strength.
- Environmental protection applications such as electrocatalytic degradation studies.
