Ossila M2396A1 is a conductive carbon black nanopowder (CAS 1333-86-4) with an average particle size of around 30 nm and a purity above 99.9%. It is used as a conductive additive and filler in battery electrodes, supercapacitors, solar cells and polymer composites.
Carbon black consists of very fine particles of amorphous or para-crystalline carbon that fuse into aggregates. These spheroidal aggregates, typically 10 to 100 nm across, have an amorphous core wrapped in stacked graphene-like domains, which gives a high ratio of surface area to volume. How well a carbon black conducts depends on its particle size, structure and porosity.
Its surface interacts strongly with most polymers without much surface treatment. Even small additions to a polymer matrix raise mechanical strength and build a conductive network that sharply increases the conductivity of the plastic. The material is also known for resisting wear.
- Conductive additive in battery electrodes and supercapacitors for energy storage.
- Component in dye sensitized solar cells.
- Filler in elastomers and plastics to modify mechanical, electrical and optical properties.
- Building conductive networks in polymer composites.
- Preparation of low-cost electrochemical sensors.
- Use in pigments and environmental protection applications.
