Ossila M561 is formamidinium bromide (FABr, formamidine hydrobromide), CAS 146958-06-7, supplied in the >99% grade obtained by double recrystallization in ethanol from 98% material. It appears as a white powder or crystals with a melting point of 133-140 °C.
FABr serves chiefly as a precursor for formamidinium lead bromide (FAPbBr3) and for mixed bromide-iodide formamidinium lead perovskites (FAPbIyBr3-y). Adjusting the halide ratio lets researchers tune the bandgap of the formamidinium lead trihalide system between 1.55 eV and 2.3 eV, which affects colour, photoexcited species lifetime and charge transport in the layer.
With a bandgap of 2.23 eV, FAPbBr3 is well suited to tandem and multi-junction solar cell research. The material is also relevant to other electronic devices, including FETs, LEDs and photovoltaics.
- Synthesis of FAPbBr3 organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite layers.
- Preparation of FAPbIyBr3-y mixed halide perovskites with a tunable bandgap.
- Fabrication of absorber layers for tandem and multi-junction solar cells.
- Research on perovskite light-emitting diodes.
- Development of perovskite-based field-effect transistors.
