Ossila Guanidinium Tetrafluoroborate (GuaBF4, CAS 36595-00-3) is a high-purity guanidinium pseudo-halide salt supplied as white crystals or powder with a purity above 99%. Classed as a functional ionic material and solid additive, it is typically incorporated into wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells to improve electron extraction and device stability.
When used as a surface treatment for CH3NH3PbI3/PCBM active layers, GuaBF4 has been reported to raise power conversion efficiency from 18.09% to 20.54% in small devices (0.10 cm2 active area) and from 12.35% to 15.52% in large devices (1.0 cm2 active area). The treatment is thought to aid charge carrier transport and extraction across the CH3NH3PbI3/PCBM interface while producing films with larger grains, a smoother surface, higher crystallinity, passivated surface defects and better-aligned interfacial energy levels.
Treated devices also show less hysteresis and improved moisture stability, with unencapsulated cells showing no performance loss after 1000 hours stored in dry air. The material is available in 5 g, 10 g, 25 g and 50 g pack sizes.
