The Ossila Indoor Light Simulator is an LED-based, steady-state light source built for characterizing indoor photovoltaic (PV) devices. Fitted with its indoor light filter, it reproduces indoor lighting at 1000 lx and 200 lx and meets the requirements of the IEC TS 62607-7-2:2023 standard, delivering class A spectral coincidence, class B spatial uniformity over a 20 mm diameter area and class SA temporal instability. Over a 25 mm diameter area, spatial uniformity is class C, suiting larger devices.
Taking the filter off turns the same unit into a solar simulator for outdoor solar cell testing. The LED lamp has a maximum lamp time of 10000 hours, needs minimal warm-up, requires no maintenance and carries no explosion risk. Each system is individually calibrated with a NIST traceable spectroradiometer and supplied with a performance report.
Free software lets users set the overall illumination level or control each LED individually, and a serial command library is available for specialist low-light measurements. The compact system can sit on a benchtop using the included optical breadboard, or its stand can be mounted on a larger optical bench.
