Ossila Lithium Vanadium Phosphate (Li3V2(PO4)3), often called LVP, is a carbon-coated black powder used as a cathode active material in lithium-ion battery development. It carries CAS number 84159-18-2 and is supplied in 25 g, 50 g and 100 g packs.
Its crystal lattice is built from VO6 octahedra and PO4 tetrahedra arranged in a NASICON (sodium super ionic conductor) framework. This arrangement gives the material strong structural stability together with linked three-dimensional pathways that let lithium ions move freely.
Charge storage relies on the V3+/V4+ redox couple, with the V4+/V5+ couple also accessible in some cases, supporting operating voltages up to 4.8 V. The combination of a stable framework and high redox potential allows an energy density of 2330 mWh/cm3. In cycling tests the material kept 97.37% of its capacity after 50 cycles at 200 mA/g, and it delivers a first discharge capacity of 143.8 mAh/g with 92.4% first discharge efficiency.
