Ossila Ni-MWCNTs (product code M2412A1) are multi-walled carbon nanotubes coated with ferromagnetic nickel. The one-dimensional nanotube framework carries the nickel layer, giving a material with good magnetic behaviour alongside the conductivity of carbon nanotubes. This grade has a diameter of 4 – 16 nm, a length of 55 μm, 60% nickel content, 38% CNT content and a purity of >98%.
The combination of high electrical conductivity, strong chemical stability and many active sites makes Ni-MWCNTs an effective catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Nickel impregnated MWCNTs have also served as a platinum-free counter electrode in dye sensitized solar cells, where a power-conversion-efficiency of 9.72% was reported against 8.85% for a Pt-based cell.
The material is produced by CVD and supplied as a black fibrous powder in 1 g, 2 g and 5 g packs. M2412A1 is listed by the manufacturer as a previous batch.
