Ossila Ni-MWCNTs (product code M2412D1) are multi-walled carbon nanotubes carrying a ferromagnetic nickel coating. The one-dimensional nanotube framework combined with the nickel layer gives the material good magnetic behaviour, and it is supplied as a black fibrous powder produced by CVD. This grade has a diameter of 10 – 30 nm, a length of 5 – 20 μm, a nickel content of 60%, a CNT content of 40% and a purity above 99%.
The material pairs strong electrical conductivity and chemical stability with a high number of active sites, which makes it an effective catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Nickel-impregnated MWCNTs have also served as a platinum-free counter electrode in dye-sensitized solar cells, reaching a power-conversion efficiency of 9.72% against 8.85% for a Pt-based reference cell.
Research interest extends to hydrogen storage, biosensors, transistors, display technology, electronics, chemical energy and drug delivery.
