Ossila M2441A1 is a nickel (II) oxide (NiO, NiOx) nanopowder with an average particle size of 8–18 nm and a purity of 99.5%. This dark grey powder, CAS 1313-99-1, has a face-centred cubic crystal structure and a specific surface area above 95 m2/g, which makes it useful in energy materials research. It is offered in 10 g and 25 g packs.
In perovskite photovoltaics, nickel (II) oxide is used as a hole-transport layer (HTL). Reported NiO HTLs reach a conductivity of 2.45 × 10-2 mS/cm with a hole-extraction value of 7.01×10-3 cm2/V⋅s, and inverted perovskite devices built on them have achieved a power conversion efficiency of 22.62%.
The material is also studied for electrochemical storage. Supercapacitors made from the nanopowder showed a specific capacitance of 605 F/g at 5A/g over 500 cycles. As a cathode material, it was used in a paper-based battery delivering up to 1.94 mA/cm2 current density and 1 mW/cm2 power density. Traditionally, nickel (II) oxide is also used in frits, ferrites and porcelain glazes.
- Hole-transport layer material for inverted perovskite solar cells.
- Electrode material for supercapacitor research.
- Cathode material for battery development, including paper-based batteries.
- Catalysis and self-assembled monolayer research.
- Production of frits, ferrites and porcelain glazes.
