Ossila P3HT M1011 is regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (CAS 104934-50-1), a widely studied low-bandgap polymer donor and p-type semiconductor used in organic photovoltaics, polymer solar cells, OLEDs and OFETs. This batch has the highest regioregularity in the Ossila P3HT range, at 97.6%, with Mw 60,150, Mn 28,650 and a PDI of 2.1.
Its very high regioregularity gives strongly crystalline films, which makes it the recommended grade for OFETs, nanofibril formation and fast-drying OPV active layers at the thin interference peak (90 nm). For slow-drying thick OPV films above 200 nm, gelling and surface roughness may occur, so lower molecular weight grades suit inkjet and other large-area or slow deposition methods better.
The polymer dissolves readily in chlorinated solvents such as chloroform, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and trichlorobenzene at 50 mg/ml. Energy levels are HOMO -5.2 eV and LUMO -3.2 eV. The material is intended for research and development use only.
- Active semiconductor layer in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
- Polymer donor for fast-drying organic photovoltaic devices at the thin interference peak (90 nm).
- Formation of P3HT nanofibrils from highly crystalline films.
- Research on OLEDs and polymer solar cells.
- Reference p-type material for benchmarking new donor conjugated molecules.
