Ossila P3HT M107 is a batch of regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl), CAS 104934-50-1, a widely used low-bandgap semiconducting polymer that acts as a donor material in organic photovoltaics, polymer solar cells, OLEDs and OFETs. This batch has a regioregularity of 93.6%, Mw of 24,480, Mn of 8,750 and a PDI of 2.8.
As one of the lower molecular weight and lower regioregularity grades in the range, M107 suits slow-drying, thick-film OPVs (>200 nm) and deposition methods such as inkjet and other large-area processes, where gelling, aggregation and surface roughness should be kept to a minimum.
The polymer dissolves well (50 mg/ml) in chlorinated solvents including chloroform, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and trichlorobenzene. Lower molecular weight grades like this one are also recommended for non-chlorinated solvents such as xylene, toluene and THF thanks to their improved solubility. With HOMO at -5.2 eV and LUMO at -3.2 eV, P3HT is regarded as a benchmark p-type material for comparing new donor molecules.
- Donor polymer in slow-drying, thick-film organic photovoltaic devices (>200 nm).
- Active material for polymer solar cell research.
- Semiconducting layer for OLED and OFET studies.
- Ink formulation for inkjet printing and other large-area deposition techniques.
- Reference p-type material for benchmarking new donor conjugated molecules.
