PFN-I (CAS 1687752-60-8), also known as PFN-iodide, is the diiodide salt of the polyfluorene PFN and belongs to the class of conjugated polymer electrolytes (CPEs). Researchers use it mainly as an electron-interface (cathode interlayer) material in organic electronic devices such as OLEDs, organic photovoltaics and perovskite solar cells, where it helps improve charge extraction efficiency. It also serves as an active layer material in blue OLEDs.
The polymer carries strongly polar ionic pendant groups, which make it soluble in methanol and water. In polymer LEDs, bilayer cathodes such as PFN-I/Al are reported to deliver device performance comparable to, or even exceeding, that of Ca or Ba cathodes. In a MEH-PPV device, a PFN-I/Al cathode gave a luminance of 773 cd m-2 and a QE of 2.85%, against 6 cd m-2 for Al alone.
Batch M2079A2 has an Mw of 150 kDa, an Mn of 51.7 kDa and a PDI of 2.9, and is offered in 100 mg, 250 mg and 500 mg packs.
