PolyTPD, or Poly(N,N'-bis-4-butylphenyl-N,N'-bisphenyl)benzidine (CAS 472960-35-3), is a semiconducting polymer from the poly(triarylamine) family, the same family as PTAA. It is widely chosen as a hole transport layer (HTL) in perovskite solar cells and other organic electronic devices, and also works as an electron blocking layer.
Its HOMO level of 5.2 eV aligns closely with the valence band of perovskite absorbers and with the work function of ITO/PEDOT:PSS anodes, so holes move readily into the polymer. Its LUMO of 2.3 eV sits much nearer to vacuum than the perovskite conduction band, which lets the layer block electrons effectively. This makes it a strong candidate for multilayer white polymer LEDs as well as photovoltaic stacks.
This batch, M0521A5, belongs to Ossila's Luminosyn™ range. The polymer is purified by Soxhlet extraction with methanol, hexane and chlorobenzene under argon, and batch-specific GPC data are provided, with Mw 63,630, Mn 11,915 and PDI 5.34. It dissolves in THF, o-xylene, toluene, chloroform and chlorobenzene.
