Ossila Prussian Blue Analogue Powder (M2551A1) is a cathode active material based on iron hexacyanoferrate, intended for research into sodium-ion and other-ion batteries. This grade is a ternary Prussian blue analogue (T-PBA) with the formula Na2Mn0.6Fe0.2Ni0.2[Fe(CN)6], supplied as a blue powder in 10 g and 25 g packs.
Prussian blue analogues carry two separate redox centres, M' 2+/3+ and M'' 2+/3+, which allows two-electron transfer as alkali ions are reversibly inserted and removed. Their theoretical specific capacity of approximately 170 mAh/g is higher than that of most transition metal oxides.
Adding manganese and nickel to the framework helps suppress the multiphase transitions common in conventional PBAs, so the lattice distorts very little during cycling and structural degradation is reduced (capacity retention of 61.2%, 10,000 cycles at 1 A/g). The material has a D50 particle size of 4.935 μm, a first discharging capacity of 151.75 mAh/g and a first coulombic efficiency of 99.9%.
