Ossila Prussian White Powder (M2552A1) is sodium manganese hexacyanoferrate, Na2Mn[Fe(CN)6], an off-white cathode active material for sodium-ion batteries. Chemically it is the fully reduced form of Prussian blue, belonging to the family with general formula A2M'[M"(CN)6], where A is an alkali metal and M' and M" are transition metals.
Its open, rigid crystal framework lets sodium ions move in and out quickly, while its good volumetric stability helps it cope with the swelling, stress and strain that build up as a cell is charged and discharged. Compositions based on manganese and iron are of particular interest because both elements are abundant and the theoretical capacity is high; a representative manganese–iron Prussian White reaches a first discharge capacity of 154 mAh/g, about 90% of its 171 mAh/g theoretical value, keeping 81% after 20 cycles.
This powder has a D50 particle size of 0.9 µm, a tap density of 0.8 g/cm3, a specific surface area of 6.41 m2/g and a first discharge capacity of 145 mAh/g. It is offered in 10 g, 25 g and 50 g packs.
