Spiro-OMeTAD, also known as Spiro-MeOTAD (CAS 207739-72-8), is a spirobifluorene-based hole transport layer (HTL) material and one of the most widely researched choices for organic-inorganic electronic devices. Product code M291 is the unsublimed grade, supplied with a purity above 99.0% by HPLC as a white to pale yellow powder.
Its spiro-linked molecular structure gives a high glass transition temperature and good morphological stability, while the material stays easy to process and keeps good electronic properties. It has a HOMO level of -5.0 eV, a LUMO of -2.05 eV and an optical band gap of 2.95 eV, with thermal stability above 360 °C (0.5% weight loss by TGA).
The material is used in perovskite solar cells, solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells, polymer organic solar cells and OLEDs. Ossila Spiro-OMeTAD has been used in published perovskite solar cell research, including work in Adv. Energy Mater. and Energy Environ. Sci. in 2018.
- Hole transport layer in perovskite solar cells (PSCs).
- Hole transport material in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSSC).
- Hole transport layer in polymer-based organic solar cells (OSCs).
- Hole transport layer in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
- Spin-coated from chlorobenzene solution with dopants such as LiTFSI and 4-tert-butylpyridine for device fabrication.
