Spiro-OMeTAD, also known as Spiro-MeOTAD (CAS 207739-72-8), is a hole transport layer (HTL) material and one of the most widely studied choices for organic-inorganic electronic devices. This M292 grade is the sublimed version, supplied at >99.5% purity by HPLC as a white to pale yellow powder.
Its spiro-linked spirobifluorene core gives the molecule a high glass transition temperature and good morphological stability, while keeping it easy to process and preserving useful electronic properties. The HOMO level sits at -5.0 eV and the LUMO at -2.05 eV, with an optical band gap of 2.95 eV. Thermal analysis shows less than 0.5% weight loss up to >360 °C.
Sublimation is used to produce ultra pure-grade material, making this grade suitable for work where impurity levels matter. Ossila Spiro-OMeTAD has been used in published perovskite solar cell research, including studies in Adv. Energy Mater. and Energy Environ. Sci.
- Hole transport layers in perovskite solar cells (PSCs).
- Hole transport material in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (ssDSSC).
- Charge transport layers in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs).
- Hole transport layers in polymer-based organic solar cells (OSCs).
- Spin-coated doped HTL films prepared from chlorobenzene solution with additives such as LiTFSI and 4-tert-butylpyridine.
