SpiroAC-TRZ (CAS 1980037-96-4) is a blue-emitting organic semiconductor for building high-efficiency OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). Its molecule joins a spiroacridine electron donor to a triazine electron acceptor through a covalent bond. It is supplied as a pale yellow powder of sublimed grade, >99% (HPLC).
The material combines a photoluminescence quantum yield close to 100% with a horizontal dipole ratio of up to 83%. A small singlet-triplet gap (ΔEST) of 0.072 eV lets reverse intersystem crossing proceed readily. In a multilayer device, SpiroAC-TRZ reached an external quantum efficiency of 36.7%.
As a third-generation OLED emitter, it also suits simplified single-layer blue devices. With the emitting layer placed between a PEDOT:PSS:PFI anode and a Ba/Al cathode, such a device delivered an EQE of 27.7% with little roll-off, still holding 23% at 1000 cd/m2.
