TFB, or poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-alt-N-(4-sec-butylphenyl)-diphenylamine) (CAS 220797-16-0), is a triarylamine-based semiconducting polymer used mainly as a hole transport layer (HTL), hole injection layer (HIL) and electron blocking layer (EBL) in organic electronic devices. This catalogue entry covers batch M0981A3, with Mw 50 kDa and Mn 30 kDa.
The polymer has a band gap of 3.0 eV, with HOMO at 5.3 eV and LUMO at 2.3 eV, and offers a comparatively high hole mobility of 2 ×10-3 cm2 V-1 s-1. Its low ionization potential and good hole conduction make it well suited to interface layers between the active layer and charge transport layers.
Used as an electron blocking interlayer, TFB helps limit electron leakage and lowers the risk of exciton quenching at the interface, for example between F8BT and MoOx. It dissolves in THF, toluene and chloroform and is supplied as an off-white to beige/grey powder or fibers.
- Hole transport layer in OLEDs and polymer light-emitting diodes.
- Hole injection layer in organic electronic devices.
- Electron blocking interlayer to reduce electron leakage and exciton quenching, e.g. between F8BT and MoOx.
- Charge transport layer in perovskite light-emitting diodes and perovskite solar cells.
- Research in organic and printed electronics.
