Ossila Titanium Nitride Powder (M2566A1) is a dark grey TiN nanopowder with a particle size of 100 – 300 nm and a purity of ≥ 99%. It is supplied for research into batteries, fuel cells, photoanodes and cathode active materials.
Titanium nitride (CAS 25583-20-4) is an advanced ceramic built from titanium and nitrogen. The strong covalent bonding between the two elements gives it high thermal stability and resistance to corrosion, along with a hardness of 31 ± 4 GPa. It also conducts electricity well, with reported conductivity between 4000 and 55500 S/cm.
In published work, TiN has served as a cathode in lithium-sulfur cells that reached an initial capacity of 1524 mAh/g with good retention over 100 cycles at C/10. A titanium nitride/cellulose nanofiber separator for aqueous zinc-ion batteries achieved cycling lifetimes of 2500 h at 0.5 mA/cm 2 and 1000 h at 5 mA/cm 2. Combined with polypyrrole and corn straw, it has also been used in biochar-based anodes for microbial fuel cells.
- Cathode material for lithium-sulfur battery research.
- Additive for composite separators in aqueous zinc-ion batteries.
- Component of polypyrrole/biochar composite anodes for microbial fuel cells.
- Composite photoanodes for dye-sensitized solar cells and water splitting.
- Electrocatalyst studies for the oxygen reduction reaction in alkaline solution.
