TQ1, also known as PTQ1 (CAS 565228-37-7), is a donor polymer for organic photovoltaic research. Its backbone alternates an alkoxylated quinoxaline acceptor unit with a thiophene donor unit, giving a medium band-gap material that offers a cost-effective route to efficient polymer solar cells. Reported energy levels are HOMO = - 5.70 eV and LUMO = - 3.30 eV.
In published work, devices pairing PTQ1 with PC71BM as acceptor and 1-Chloronaphthalene as a processing additive exceeded 7% efficiency, a result linked to polymer chain order and film morphology. Ossila TQ1 has also been used in a study of nongeminate recombination in all-polymer solar cells (ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces, 2021).
This material belongs to the Luminosyn™ range and is purified by Soxhlet extraction with methanol, hexane and chlorobenzene under argon. Batch M2076A2 is supplied with batch-specific GPC data (Mw 154,162; Mn 63,809; PDI 2.42), and larger orders can be drawn from the same batch for consistent experiments. It dissolves in chloroform, chlorobenzene and dichlorobenzene.
