Polyhydroxylated fullerene, commonly called fullerenol, is a derivative of C60 fullerene in which multiple hydroxyl groups are attached to the carbon cage. As a member of the carbon nanomaterial family, fullerenols combine the spherical, electron-accepting structure of C60 with improved solubility in water and polar solvents. They are typically studied in liquid form, where dispersion behavior and surface chemistry are key variables in experimental design.
