Shape Memory Polymer MS5520 from Nanografi is a solution-type smart material supplied in DMF solvent. Shape-memory polymers (SMPs) have dual-shape capability: after being set into a programmed shape, they recover their original form when exposed to a suitable trigger such as heat, light, pH or moisture.
This grade has a solids residue of 30% and a viscosity of 80,000 - 120,000 CPS at 25 ℃. In the glass region it reaches a tensile strength of 65 MPa with 40 - 60% elongation, while in the rubber region it offers a tensile strength of 11 MPa, elongation above 400% and a 100% modulus of 3.5 MPa.
SMPs are studied widely in biomedicine and aerospace and are used in textiles to add or improve smart properties. The product is available in a 4 liters pack.
- Development of smart textiles with stimuli-responsive behaviour.
- Research on biomedical devices such as smart catheters, smart sutures and artificial muscles.
- Formulation of drug-delivery systems and biosensors.
- Creation of self-healing materials and auto-repairing automobile parts.
- Investigation of shape-memory materials for aerospace uses.
