This silicon carbide (SiC) micron powder from Nanografi has a stated purity of 99.5+% and a particle size range of 22-59 μm. It is aimed at labs and manufacturers working with refractories, engineering ceramics, abrasives and reinforced composites.

SiC is an extremely hard material, rated 9.5 on the Mohs scale, with a density of 3.216 g/cm3 at 288k. It also conducts heat well, which suits parts that must cope with high temperatures, such as sealing valves, spray nozzles and fluid transport components. Added to composites, the powder helps raise both strength and heat resistance.

The impurity profile is low, with free carbon at 0,05 %, Fe at 0.057%, Ca at 0.050% and Al at 0.018%. The material is not radioactive and contains no heavy metals, toxic substances or carcinogenic substances. It is offered in 25 grams, 100 grams, 500 grams, 1000 grams and 5 kg packs.

  • Use as a hard, high-grade refractory material.
  • Production of ceramics such as ceramic bearings, textile ceramics, high frequency ceramics and ceramic engine parts.
  • Polishing abrasives and grinding wheels.
  • Hard discs and supports for multichip modules.
  • High temperature sealing valves, spray nozzles and fluid transport parts.
  • Reinforcement of composites to improve strength and heat resistance.
