Description
TCI C0623 Cyclooctanol is a secondary alcohol built on a medium-sized eight-membered ring. Its hydroxyl group readily undergoes oxidation, esterification, etherification, and conversion into leaving groups, with oxidation to cyclooctanone being a particularly common route. The distinctive conformational behaviour of the eight-membered ring also makes it useful for studying ring-size effects on reactivity. Supplied in a 25 g pack, it should be handled in a well-ventilated area and stored cool, dry, and away from strong oxidising agents.
