Description

TCI H0096 Squalane is a branched saturated hydrocarbon containing thirty carbon atoms, supplied as a colourless, viscous liquid that is practically odourless. The compound is the fully hydrogenated form of squalene, which means it no longer contains any carbon–carbon double bonds. Within a chemical catalogue it is classified as a non-heterocyclic building block, but its everyday role in the laboratory is considerably broader: it serves as a stable non-polar medium, a heat transfer fluid for high-temperature baths, a stationary phase in gas chromatography, and a reference material in formulation and cosmetic research.
