Tin oxide (SnO2) sputtering targets are solid source pieces of an inorganic metal oxide, prepared for physical vapor deposition. During sputtering, the target is bombarded with ions so that tin oxide is ejected and deposited as a thin film on a substrate. Tin oxide belongs to the family of semiconducting and transparent conducting oxides, which makes it a common choice for thin-film research.
