YJ Nickel Foam (40 x 30) mm from Yunji is a sheet of porous nickel foam: nickel metal formed into a three-dimensional network of open, interconnected pores. Electrochemistry laboratories use it widely as an electrode substrate and as a current collector. The porous structure provides a large surface area in a form that is light and easy to cut. For this reason, nickel foam is a standard choice for growing or coating active materials in battery, supercapacitor, and electrocatalysis research.

Researchers choose nickel foam because it combines three properties that are hard to find in one material: good metallic electrical conductivity, a large effective surface area, and an open pore network that lets electrolyte and gas move in and out easily. Active materials can be grown directly on its surface by hydrothermal synthesis, electrodeposition, or slurry coating, so an electrode does not always need an added binder. Nickel is also relatively stable in alkaline electrolytes, which makes the foam suitable for a wide range of electrochemical tests.

The 40 x 30 mm size can be cut into several small electrodes, which suits laboratory-scale experiments where many samples or repeat measurements are needed from one sheet. In Indonesia, demand for nickel foam is growing along with research on energy storage and conversion. University laboratories, research institutes, and industrial R&D teams use it to prepare working electrodes, test new active materials, and build prototype cells for battery, supercapacitor, and electrocatalysis studies.

  • Battery electrode research: nickel foam serves as a conductive, porous current collector on which active materials can be coated or grown directly for laboratory-scale cell testing.
  • Supercapacitor electrode fabrication: its large effective surface area and open pores support high contact between active material and electrolyte, which matters when evaluating capacitive performance.
  • Electrocatalysis studies: the open pore network lets electrolyte reach catalytic sites and lets evolved gas escape, which makes it a common substrate for gas evolution reaction catalysts.
  • Binder-free electrode preparation: active materials can be grown in place by hydrothermal synthesis or electrodeposition, so researchers can prepare electrodes without adding a separate binder.
  • Electrochemical testing in alkaline electrolytes: nickel is relatively stable in alkaline media, so the foam suits repeated measurements and comparative tests run under basic conditions.

Storage Keep dry, clean, and protected from contamination and mechanical damage
  • Product name: YJ Nickel Foam (40 x 30) mm
  • Size: 40 x 30 mm sheet

Store nickel foam in a clean, dry place away from moisture, corrosive vapours, acids, and other chemicals that could oxidise or contaminate the metal surface. Keep sheets in their original packaging, a sealed plastic bag, or a closed container, and lay them flat so the porous structure is not crushed or bent. Handle the foam with clean gloves or tweezers so that oils and residues from your hands do not affect electrode preparation. Cut it with clean scissors or a blade on a clean surface. Follow standard laboratory safety practice and dispose of used or coated foam according to your institution's waste procedures.
