Zinc sulfide (ZnS) sputtering targets are solid source materials used in physical vapor deposition (PVD) to produce thin films. ZnS is an inorganic II-VI compound semiconductor with a wide bandgap, valued for its optical transparency across the visible and infrared ranges. In a controlled vacuum chamber, the target is bombarded with ions so that ZnS atoms are ejected and deposited onto a substrate as a uniform thin layer.
