Zinc (Zn) sputtering targets are solid discs or plates of elemental zinc, a metal used as the source material in physical vapor deposition (PVD). During sputtering, energetic ions bombard the target surface and eject zinc atoms that condense onto a substrate to form thin films. Zinc targets are commonly used as the metal precursor for depositing zinc-based films, including zinc oxide layers produced by reactive sputtering in an oxygen-containing atmosphere.
