Nanografi Zirconium (Zr) Micron Powder is a 99.9% pure transition metal powder with a particle size of 325 mesh. It is suited to work where corrosion resistance, thermal stability and low neutron absorption matter, from nuclear materials research to advanced alloy development.
Zirconium has a hexagonal crystal structure, a melting temperature of 1852 °C and a density of 6.506 g/cm³. It readily develops a protective oxide layer, which gives it strong resistance to attack by acids, alkalis and salt water. Because it is nearly transparent to thermal neutrons, it is a standard material for nuclear fuel cladding.
The powder also offers good surface toughness and high-temperature stability, making it useful as a reinforcing or grain-refining addition in metallurgy. Its biocompatibility supports its use in medical devices and prosthetics.
- Fabrication of nuclear fuel rod cladding and reactor internal components that must not interfere with neutron flow.
- Development of high-performance aerospace alloys for turbine blades and airframe parts exposed to corrosive, high-temperature conditions.
- Grain refinement of magnesium and aluminium alloys to improve tensile strength and thermal fatigue resistance.
- Production of orthopedic implants and dental tools, based on its non-toxic character and bone compatibility.
- Manufacture of corrosion-resistant valves, heat exchangers and piping for reactive chemicals.
- Use as a hardening component in grinding wheels and precision cutting tools, and in controlled combustion systems and igniters.
