TCI B6956, 2'-bromo-[1,1'-biphenyl]-3-carbonitrile, is a bifunctional biphenyl building block bearing an ortho bromide on one ring and a meta nitrile on the other. The bromide supports palladium-catalysed cross-coupling and intramolecular cyclisation toward fused aromatic frameworks. The nitrile group can be retained as an electron-withdrawing substituent or converted into amides, acids, amines, or tetrazoles. Available from AMI Scientific in 200 mg and 1 g packs, it should be stored tightly sealed in a cool, dry, light-protected place.
