TCI C0140, 2-Chlorobenzoyl Chloride (CAS 609-65-4), is a liquid aromatic acid chloride with an ortho chlorine substituent. It acylates amines and alcohols rapidly and is widely used to prepare benzamides, benzoate esters, and cyclised heterocyclic frameworks. The compound is corrosive and reacts violently with water, releasing hydrogen chloride, so anhydrous transfer under inert gas in a fume hood is recommended.
