TCI C0235 1-Chlorooctadecane (CAS 3386-33-2) is a long-chain primary alkyl chloride carrying an eighteen-carbon hydrophobic tail. The terminal chloride is readily displaced by nucleophiles to give long-chain amines, ethers, esters, and thioethers. It is widely used to prepare cationic surfactants, hydrophobic surface modifiers, and amphiphilic materials whose chain length mimics natural fatty acids. TCI provides it in 25 mL and 500 mL pack sizes; the material may solidify in cool conditions and should be warmed gently before use.
